Why it is not Easy to Establish a Non-profit Org

If you have a cause and want to advance the welfare of others, you might think of opening a non-profit organization soon. Establishing one will help you reach out to more people and conduct charitable works more often. However, in reality, founding a non-profit is not that easy.

The following are some of the challenges that you must hurdle to establish a non-profit group.

3 Challenges That You Need to Endure to Advance Your Selfless Causes

  1. 501 (c) (3)
The first thing that you must do is to apply for 501 (c) (3) certification. You need to convince the IRS to qualify your causes, whether you are promoting education, scientific, religious, literary, and charitable works. Under section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS Code, any group proven to carry out programs with the aim of helping people will be exempted from paying tax.
  2. Scarcity of Funds
The financial aspect of running a non-profit organization is indeed an arduous challenge that you need to overcome. You may try soliciting for funds, but it doesn’t guarantee a stable stream of financial source. Why? Because it is so hard to find people who will just lay their hard-earned dollars without expecting for a return of investment. You really need to go the extra mile to generate sufficient funds. Otherwise, you and the organization’s cause will turn out futile.
  3. Be Transparent
You need to divulge everything if you are running a non-profit organization. The problem sets in when some people do not trust the information you made available in public. Sometimes, despite your sacrifices, some would accuse you of doing irregularities. But don’t get disappointed; anyway, you are not doing this for personal gains. As long as you are transparent enough, sooner or later, the outcome of your programs will clear your conscience.
